Works on WordPress

Our platform is built on the world’s leading authoring and content management system, and it’s easy to use.

If you’ve ever used WordPress, you’ll find TMP a pushover. If you’re familiar with any other content management system, it won’t take long to find your feet.

We’ve built The Museum Platform on WordPress because it makes it easy for us to integrate your website with your collections data, and it’s easy for you to use.

WordPress has been around for over twenty years, and we’ve been building websites using it for almost that long. WordPress is reliable, robust and used by some of the world’s leading companies.

WordPress is also open source: the software itself isn’t owned by a corporation. It’s developed and scrutinised by a huge range of contributors, but no-one can ever turn it off or sell it to another company. That means it will be around in the long-term.

We take care of everything for you: backups, maintenance, theming, plugins, updates and more, so that you can concentrate on looking after your collections and building great content.

WordPress in numbers…

43.4% of the Internet: Nearly half of all websites globally are powered by WordPress, and roughly 36% of the world’s top 1 million high-traffic websites rely on WordPress for their infrastructure.

62.8% CMS Market Share: Among sites that use a Content Management System, WordPress holds more than 10x the share of its closest competitor (Shopify).

590+ Million Sites: An estimated 590 to 800 million active websites currently run on the platform.

For basic installations, we’ve chosen and adapted a few WordPress themes and plugins that work well with brands, can be maintained and are secure. If you need something more bespoke, talk to us.

If you’re already using a WordPress website, then our collections and stories plugins can be styled to fit with your existing theme and plugins: your own web developer can do this, or we can help.
